Building a Tradition of Excellence: Brick by Brick
Excellence: To do common things with uncommon discipline and uncommon enthusiasm.
Discipline: Doing something difficult for a long period of time, in order to get something good later.
From the start, the focus needs to be on us (the coaches) being at our best.
Program Objectives
- Become the Best Version - of ourselves, of our program
- Add Vaue - to our players lives, help them become a better person
- Teamwork
- Have Fun - kids to a good job of doing it, and we do a good job of squashing it. Don't squash it, have fun at your job.
- Win
Our Goal
Win the WAC Championship and a Bowl Game with Class, Integrity, and Academic Excellence.
Create the Bronco Culture
- People - who have the drive to be the best, be all in. Disciplined thought process. Get in, get your work done, and get out. Work for continual improvement.
- Responsibility - we don't have jobs, we have areas of responsibility. No one job is more important than any other. Ask yourself, "What can I do to affect the effectiveness and performance of our team?"
- Trust - the glue that holds relationships together. Friction and Candor are good. Have a low ego. Have openness. Ask yourself if you are arguing for something because you really believe it is right, or for your own ego.
- Creativity - a sense of imagination, but still simple to us and to our kids - but not so simple to the opponents. Freedom. Put a few new wrinkles in the game plan. Imagination without wisdom is a cruel taskmaster.
- Competition - Defiance to take Second Place.
- Enjoyment - Enjoy the process and the struggle. Enjoy being with the kids and staff.
