How to Defend the Iso Run Play

The Iso Play is probably one of the most popular and common running plays in football. It’s a power running game coming straight at you. One of most frustrating things is that if you can’t stop it, most of the time the opponents keep running it, keep running it, keep running.

We are going to have the iso of play against the 4-3 defense here. With the Iso play we changed some of the things that we did with the iso in the past. How to Be Smart in a World of Dumb Football Coaches

Football coaches spend countless hours every off-season working on our schemes. We buy books, DVDs, clinic passes, and anything else we think might help us win.

Then there are the staff meetings where coaches hammer out every detail. One guy plays Devil’s Advocate for a half hour on some minute detail that probably will never come up. “Be an Athlete!”

“Catch the #^*%ing BALL!”

Football-Defense Mailbag #3

Before the questions…

As I mentioned to our subscribers today, our staff has made the switch to Hudl for our video editing. While we are working on the Trial period right now, we are nearing the end of our first 30 Days and love it. Not only can the entire staff help break down film (before, we had three computers that could be used for breakdown – now anyone can do it from anywhere), but the kids can watch the film at home. We can even telestrate, add notes, and narrate a play and then notify the kids who need to see it by e-mail.Hudl has a lot of options, right now we’re looking at the lowest package, and it seems like it will fit our needs just fine. There are also packages for Youth coaches as well. If you want to give Hudl a try you can get a 30 Day free trial at Hudl.com, and if you use the Promo Code: joedaniel you’ll get 10% off when you make your purchase. [Read more...]
