I’ve always heard that you don’t blitz the option. Never really believed it, but I’ve heard it a lot. Unfortunately, I’ve only faced one really quality Dive Option team in my coaching career (and if the results of that event became public knowledge, you would probably stop reading!). But I’ve faced enough mediocre one’s to know that, in my opinion, you should take at least one blitz into a game against a Dive Option team.When I wrote Dominating Football Defense with the Zone Blitz, I went through tons of blitz options, and when and how coaches would want to use each one. Thus, I was faced with the question: Can you blitz the Option?
