ABOUT

Thanks for visiting the Football-Defense Report blog.  I started this blog in 2009 to talk about defensive football and it has been growing ever since.

Who am I?

My background in football has been primarily on the defensive side of the ball.  I played Linebacker and Nose Guard in high school and college, though not that well.  Turns out those who can’t do, though, can still coach.

I am a history teacher, as well as a football coach.  My first job was teaching in Smithfield, VA.  After that I moved to Prince George High School in Prince George Co., VA where I spent 6 season, the last 2 as Defensive Coordinator.

For the 2009 season I took a position coaching Linebackers at Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls, IA.  Though I chose not to continue to pursue a college coaching career, it was a fantastic experience.  Currently I am back in Richmond, VA and seeking a position as a teacher and coach again.

Purpose for The Football-Defense Report

I’d like to discuss all aspects of defensive football here.  Writing helps me to think more deeply about topics.  In addition, I appreciate comments and questions from anyone.  It helps to further my learning as well as other readers.

Originally I was also hoping to make some money on the blog.  While I’m not getting rich by any means, I do okay in that respect.  I’ve managed to pick up some advertisers, including Glazier Clinics among others, which has been a nice surprise.  I’ve also written one book, Installing Football’s 4-3 Over Defensive Front which is available for download on the site for less than $10.

How do you adjust your d-linemen/lb’s (let’s say a 3 man front) to nasty splits. Recommend splitting the difference to take away inside or something else?
